Prestigious Alexandria, VA-based trade association seeks talented Events Manager to lead high touch programs

TorchLight Hire is seeking a Meetings & Events Manager to join a thriving trade association based in Alexandria, VA. This role will be the primary manager for the organization’s leadership forum and will play supporting roles with other major company-owned events.  Qualified individuals should have 4+ years of experience in full-scale event planning and project management.

Location:
Qualified applicants are in the Washington, D.C. or Northern VA areas. U.S. citizenship or a permanent residency card in the U.S. is required to be an eligible candidate for this opportunity.

Employment:
Full-time, direct hire role, 40-hours per week. On-site position in Alexandria, VA with occasional flexibility to work from home.

Role responsibilities:

  • Lead planner on assigned events ranging from dinners to large tradeshows
  • Manage venue selections to include destination/venue research, site selection and contract negotiations
  • Coordinate all meeting logistics for assigned events including timeline development, attendee management, event design, AV, transportation, staffing, budget management and more
  • Lead and project manage cross functional teams when related to assigned events
  • Manage equipment orders, supply orders, graphic and print orders, and shipping for assigned events

Skills and experience: 

  • 4+ years of meeting and/or event planning experience; association experience a plus
  • Strong customer service, organizational and project management skills
  • Passion for planning and executing events to perfection
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to drive projects from inception to completion with little oversight
  • Understanding of customer database applications (CRM) a plus
  • Understanding of budget and accounting processes
  • Ability to travel throughout the year (approx. 20%)
  • Certified Meeting Professional a plus
