Job Description

Mission-driven non-profit seeks proven VP of Business Development to grow partnerships portfolio

TorchLight Hire is seeking a VP of Business Development to join a growing global non-profit located in Washington, DC. This role will be responsible for all parts of the corporate partnerships sales funnel.  Qualified candidates will have 8+ years of account management/business development experience in public or private sector and a proven track record securing high dollar corporate and/or foundation investments. 

Location:
Qualified applicants are preferably located in the Washington, D.C., or Baltimore areas. However, fully remote candidates are encouraged to apply. U.S. citizenship or a permanent residency card in the U.S. is required to be an eligible candidate for this opportunity.

Employment:
Full-time, direct hire role, 40-hours per week, hybrid work environment with flexible work from home options

Role responsibilities:

  • Create and execute a business development and account management strategy to meet sales goals and produce a constant funnel of potential corporate partners
  • Prepare and track proposals and quarterly reports related to corporate donor activities
  • Develop high-touch relationships with corporate partners and serve as an ongoing brand steward
  • Engage in direct fundraising tasks, including prospect research, sales calls, and meetings
  • Develop and write proposals
  • Manage a substantial annual sales budget across multiple business lines
  • Lead a growing team of business development professionals

Skills and experience: 

  • Eight (8) + years of account management/business development experience in the public or private sector, including at least three (3) years of experience in a leadership role
  • Track record of securing high dollar investments from corporations and/or foundations
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement partnership sales strategies
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communications, with a track record of writing compelling and successful proposals
  • Experience communicating with senior level executives
