TorchLight May Contractor of the Month: Crystal Coulson
Congratulations to our May Contractor of the Month, Crystal Coulson! Learn more about Crystal—how she got into marketing and communications, her bucket list destination and what she likes about being a TorchLight contractor.
Where did you grow up? Where did you go to college and what did you study?
I grew up in Indiana but moved to Chicago for school where I studied fashion marketing.
What did (or do!) you want to be when you grow up? How did you get into marketing and
communications?
I have always loved theater and the arts. I was drawn to art school where I studied fashion
marketing. This satiated my analytical mind and creative thirst.
What do you like to do for fun?
Travel! I love studying other cultures. My favorite place is Spain.
Favorite food? Drink?
A Greek lemon soup called Avgolemono, sooo good! Favorite drink is coffee, of course. 🙂
One bucket list destination…
An African safari in Tanzania.
What’s the best advice a manager has ever given you?
My old boss, a forward-thinking tech innovator once said, “Never let the fear of failure alone keep you from trying something new” which I apply to this day.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out in their career?
Take a position that will provide you with the most growth, find a great mentor, fail fast and apply the lessons, work smart and find gratitude every day for what you have.
What work accomplishments are you most proud of?
Starting a traveling yoga and therapeutic massage company for seniors in assisted living
facilities. Completely rewarding.
Finally, what do you like about working for TorchLight?
The people are wonderful! 🙂
