Meet TorchLight’s Senior Account Manager, Katie Hart! Get to know Katie more—why she got into recruiting, her dream travel destination and more!
Where are you from?
Georgia. I lived in a few different places in Georgia – Athens (Go Dawgs!), Augusta, and outside of Atlanta.
What did you study and how did you get into the recruiting space?
At UGA, I studied both Management and Marketing. I got into recruiting because of Heidi (the CEO and founder!). 😊 I had just moved to the DC area, she reached out via LinkedIn with this opportunity, and the rest is history!
What are some of your previous jobs?
My first job was with Georgia Sports Properties. I assisted in partnership marketing activations for UGA’s various athletic teams. I may or may not have geeked out a bit when they finally let me on the field at Sanford Stadium to watch the Bulldogs play.
After that, I moved to Augusta where I joined the ABC affiliate TV station as a Marketing Coordinator and handled all of their sponsorship-related events. Everything from Award Shows to High School Football games. After a little under of year in that role, I made the jump to an Account Executive. In that role, I developed, sold, and helped implement marketing plans for my clients.
What’s your dream travel destination and why?
That’s a hard question because I really don’t have one dream destination – just a lot of places on an ever-growing list. In the near future, my husband and I are planning a trip to Spain and Portugal, but we’ve also had our eye on Japan, Patagonia, and Hawaii.
What’s your favorite thing to do during your free time?
On the side, I am an instructor for Pure Barre, a barre fitness brand. I started taking Pure Barre back in 2016 and instantly loved not only the mental and physical benefits but the community as well. After about 2 years of attending barre classes, I decided to take my love a step further by becoming an instructor.
What’s the best part of working remotely?
The ability to work from anywhere. My husband and I live far away from both of our families. Working remotely allows us to go home and see them more often.
Finally, what do you like most about your job at TorchLight?
The people. I can’t say that enough. This is a highly supportive team that wants you to be successful. We all root for one another and celebrate our successes together.
