Congratulations to our March Contractor of the Month, Nathan Sprenger! Learn more about Nathan —how he got into marketing and communications, his dream travel destination and what he likes about being a TorchLight contractor.
Where did you grow up and where did you go to college? What did you study?
I grew up in Spokane, WA and went to undergrad at Eastern Washington University where I got a BA in Government. I have an MA in Public Communications from American University.
What did (or do!) you want to be when you grow up? How did you get into marketing and communications?
I came out of grad school prepared to work in PR but found a position with a growing association that needed someone to handle both marketing and communications. That led me more to marketing and project management roles.
What do you like to do for fun?
Travel and spend time with family and friends.
Favorite food?
Steak.
One bucket list destination…
Fjords of Norway.
What’s the best advice a manager has ever given you?
Be your own best advocate and while work is important, it’s never your top priority in life.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out in their career?
Be open to change and don’t think just because you studied X at school that you are locked into that for the rest of your career.
What work accomplishment are you most proud of?
Being part of a turnaround of the marketing department at a previous job.
What do you like most about being a contractor?
The flexibility and the support provided by the great team at Torchlight.
What do you like about working for TorchLight?
I love the support that we receive from the entire team as well as the flexibility of being a contractor while having the perks of being a W-2 employee.
