Sales Consultant
Location: Washington, DC | Hybrid
Type: Full-time

TorchLight Hire is seeking a Sales Consultant for a respected DC-based live events organization. This is an excellent opportunity for a relationship-driven sales professional who enjoys current events, business, politics, sports, culture, and the world of high-profile events.

The ideal candidate is a consultative professional who can build long-term client relationships, identify net new opportunities, and help organizations find the right resources for conferences, meetings, and special events. Success in this role requires persistence, strong communication skills, curiosity, and the ability to develop trusted relationships with event planners, associations, corporations, and other organizations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prospect for new business and identify organizations with relevant needs
  • Build and manage a book of business through outreach, relationship-building, and client development
  • Consult with clients to understand event goals, audience needs, budget, and desired outcomes
  • Recommend resources that align with client objectives
  • Manage multiple stakeholders throughout the sales and booking process
  • Develop strong knowledge of current events, business trends, and client industries
  • Collaborate with internal teams across live events, video, and related services
  • Grow existing client relationships and identify referral opportunities across business lines

Skills and Experience 

  • Experience in sales, account management, business development, client service, events, associations, sports marketing, or a related field
  • Strong relationship-building and consultative sales skills
  • Interest in business, politics, current events, sports, culture, and/or thought leadership
  • Comfortable making outbound calls and proactively developing new business
  • Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and able to take ownership of client relationships
  • Persistent, persuasive, professional, and highly personable
  • Career-oriented and interested in building a long-term path in sales and the events industry
  • Strong communication, follow-up, and organizational skills
