Seeking a Vice President of Marketing for a Growing DC-Based Agency
TorchLight Hire is partnering with a well-established firm in Washington, DC to find an exceptional Vice President of Marketing. This organization sits at the intersection of strategic marketing, thought leadership, live events, and content — a dynamic, fast-moving environment with an impressive client roster and a strong national presence.
This is a true leadership opportunity for a senior marketing executive who is ready to own both the strategy and the outcomes. The VP of Marketing will report directly to the COO, partner closely with the CEO, and lead a team across content, video, and marketing operations. The right person brings a demand generation mindset, a collaborative spirit, and the executive presence to serve as a strategic partner to the organization’s leadership team.
Location: Washington, DC — In-Person (candidates must be local to the DC metro area)
Employment: Full-time, direct hire
- Own integrated marketing strategy and build and execute a lead generation strategy that drives qualified opportunities across the firm’s multiple business lines
- Partner closely with sales leadership to align on lead quality, conversion, and shared targets
- Lead, mentor, and grow an internal marketing team
- Build a culture of ownership, urgency, and creative ambition — and establish a professional development framework for the team
- Oversee high-visibility client events, brand initiatives, and executive positioning campaigns
- Identify opportunities to better integrate and cross-promote the firm’s multiple service offerings
- Bring a forward-thinking approach to AI and emerging marketing tools
- Own performance tracking across campaigns, channels, and business lines
- Optimize the martech stack (Dynamics, HubSpot, WordPress) to support lead generation and sales follow-up
The ideal candidate is a senior marketing leader who leads with both vision and accountability. They bring a proven track record of generating measurable business results and they are comfortable being held to metrics.
You bring:
- 10+ years leading marketing teams with responsibility for revenue or pipeline generation
- A demand generation mindset — demonstrable experience building and executing strategies that produce qualified leads and support sales conversion
- Strong people leadership skills — you develop talent, build accountability, and create high-performing team cultures
- Executive presence — you are comfortable in the room with founders and CEOs, can push back thoughtfully, and communicate with clarity
- Martech fluency — hands-on familiarity with CRM and marketing automation platforms (such as Microsoft Dynamics and/or HubSpot)
- Data-driven decision making — you track what matters, report honestly, and adjust quickly
- Curiosity and urgency — you bring ideas without being asked, respond quickly, and operate at the pace of a fast-moving business
Background that translates well:
- B2B marketing leadership, particularly in professional services, agency, events, communications, media, or thought leadership environments
- Experience navigating organizations where marketing must closely align with a relationship-driven sales function
- Prior success leading marketing across multiple business lines or service offerings
- Base salary: $150,000–$200,000 depending on experience
