Seeking Experienced Senior Manager for Government Relations and Public Policy position at leading professional non-profit
TorchLight is seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager of Government Relations and Public Policy to advance our client’s legislative priorities at the federal and state level. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of legislative processes and a minimum of 7+ years’ experience in a legislative or policy-related position on Capitol Hill.
Location:
Ideal candidates are in the DMV or DC metropolitan area. Client works in their downtown DC office two days/week.
U.S. citizenship or a permanent residency card in the U.S. is required to be an eligible candidate for this opportunity.
Employment:
A full-time, direct hire opportunity following a 40-hour workweek schedule. A flexible work schedule with work-from-home (WFH) option is available.
Role responsibilities:
- Monitor, track, research, and analyze legislative proposals at federal and state levels
- Develop and maintain working relationships with key Hill contacts
- Develop and implement client’s legislative priorities
- Represent the organization in Capitol Hill meetings and events
- Collaborate in the creation of outreach plans engaging with congressional members and staff
- Collaborate with the marketing and communications department to promote advocacy efforts
- Build strategic partnerships with stakeholders
Skills and experience:
- 7+ years’ experience working as staff on Capitol Hill or in a similar role
- Proven knowledge of the legislative process and congressional operations
- Strong networking and relationship-building skills
- Experience building and working in coalitions
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and project management skills
- Self-directed with the ability to anticipate the needs of a supervisor and colleagues
