Seeking Experienced Managing Director for Boutique Media Agency in the DMV
TorchLight is seeking an experienced Managing Director with a proven history of handling staff management, operations, campaign strategy, and business development in an advertising or media agency. This candidate will spearhead the activities of our agency client, focusing on resource management, P/L oversight and management, strategic goal setting, and driving growth and profitability. Only candidates with paid digital media expertise and at least 15 years of experience managing and mentoring teams in an agency setting will be considered.

Location:
Qualified applicants are ideally located in the DMV or the DC metropolitan area, as staff members meet in-person on a periodic basis.
U.S. citizenship or a permanent residency card in the U.S. is required to be an eligible candidate for this opportunity.
Employment:
This is a Direct Hire opportunity. Full-time job 40 hours per week. Flexible work schedule with work from home (WFH) options. Benefits included.
Role responsibilities:
- Establish annual revenue and business goals and lead the team to meet those goals
- Collaborate with company leaders to establish overall operational and financial performance measures for the agency
- Manage P&L to profitability
- Represent the agency in public, at events, and in the media
- Serve as main point of contact between the agency and major clients helping to maintain and grow strong relationships
- Solicit and develop potential client relationships and win new business for the agency
- Present and lead high value pitches
- Lead, coach and mentor the team and provide ongoing professional development
- Determine staffing needs and recruit staff and contractors as needed
- Set the overall culture, tone, and style of the agency
Skills and experience:
- Minimum or 15+ years’ experience directing the operations and processes of an ad or media agency
- Strong knowledge of paid media strategy and execution (digital & traditional channels)
- Growth-oriented mindset and a strong sense of accountability for client goals
- Ability to lead, motivate and inspire others to succeed
- Confidence in presenting and selling the agency and its work
- Proficient in building strong and cordial relationships with all cross-functional staff
- Financially adept with ability to build a sound base for future activity
- Willingness to serve as an expert adviser to clients at the most senior level to build strong relationships
