TorchLight seeking an experienced Director of PR & Communications to join team at critical DMV-based non-profit organization
Are you a seasoned communications professional with proven experience in handling comprehensive communication strategies? Do you have previous experience managing teams and working in the non-profit sector? If so, we have a great opportunity for you.
Our client is a leading healthcare-related organization, advocating for access to services, treatment, support, and research. This important position will lead their internal and external communications function.
Qualified candidates should have 8+ years of full-scale PR and Communications experience with a demonstrated background and interest in managing an internal team.
Location:
Ideal candidates are in the DMV/DC metropolitan area to work in-office (Arlington, VA) three days/week.
U.S. citizenship or a permanent residency card in the U.S. is required to be an eligible candidate for this opportunity.
Employment:
A full-time job, 40 hours per week, on-site three times a week. The role offers a flexible work schedule with work-from-home (WFH) options.
Role Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive communications strategies
- Manage a team covering PR/media relations to include both external and internal communications
- Meet the organization’s strategic communications needs
- Manage client relationships and develop messaging strategy, media relations, executive communications, crisis communications, and internal communications
Skills and Experience:
- A minimum of 8+ years’ experience in a communications role, preferably in a mission-driven, non-profit organization
- Agency and in-house experience are a plus
- Strong proven results in managing integrated digital, print, and broadcast media to optimal results
- Proven effectiveness as a manager and leader
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with extensive public speaking experience
